Objectives of a Joint Program of SRNSF and University of Oxford are to support development of modern interdisciplinary scientific researches in the field of Georgian Studies and the research popularization abroad; to attract young researchers and increase their scientific potential; to disseminate modern research results in the international academic networks (in Georgian history, culture, writing, languages and literature, archeology and arts, religion, socio-economic and political transformation); to create Georgian and regional studies collaborative networks and consortia promoting multilateral and sustainable international cooperation. Overall, 13 proposals were submitted at the Call of 2016. The joint evaluation committee of Oxford University and the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation interviewed 7 applicants (who have passed the second stage evaluation). Based on the results of the personal interviews, the committee selected 2 projects for funding :   Project code Research project title UO_08_6-2016 The Art and Architecture of the Kingdom of Georgia in the l0th and l l th centuries" UO_5_6_2016;  “Rome in the Caucasus: New Ligbt on the Roman Impact on Iberian Society”    Reserve candidate: UO_12_6_2016 - Coping with Poverty and marginalization in Georgia - Experience and Strategies of Households Living in Poverty      Applicants must submit hard copies of the documentation (as stated in the decree of SRNSF Director General) at the foundation office no later than August 1, 2016, 18:00. The winner applicants, with the status of ‘Visiting Georgian Scholar’ will be funded for visiting attachment to the Oxford University’s School of Interdisciplinary Area Studies (http://www.area-studies.ox.ac.uk/), Russian and East European Studies Unit (http://www.rees.ox.ac.uk) for periods of 12 months. The visiting scholars will conduct researches with the support of highly qualified mentors appointed by the University of Oxford.

Proof of Concept Grant

SRNSF disseminates information on ERC Proof of Concept Grant outcomes. The ERC Proof of Concept Grant scheme is open to ERC grant holders only. Grant holders will receive top-up funding to explore commercial or innovation potential of the results of their ERC-funded research.  The grantees can apply for funding in one of the three rounds of the yearly call. In the first round of the call 141 ERC grant holders applied, from which 44 was funded. List of the 44 grantees by country of host institution The selected projects cover a variety of topics, such as building  a neurotechnology device, develop open-source software for faster and better forecasts of severe weather events, or design a new vaccine strategy for RNA viruses, like Ebola, dengue and Zika. These Proof of Concept grants, worth €150,000 each, can be used, for example, to establish intellectual property rights, investigate business opportunities or conduct technical validation.  The budget of the overall 2016 Proof of Concept competition is €20 million. Call for Internship 2016 results

Overall, 55 proposals were submitted at the Call for Internship 2016 out of which 1 proposal was cancelled  due to its incompliance to the call terms and conditions. Proposals were cancelled as result of Technical Expertise (The code of the cancelled project: IG/1/6/16).   On June 13, 2016, at Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation, was held meeting of project evaluation committee, appointed in accordance to N106 decree of SRNSF Director General dated June 1, 2016 “About appointment and terms and conditions of work of Project Evaluation Committee, under young scientists’ internship program 2016”.     Submitted proposals were evaluated in line with the criteria under the Georgian Government Resolution #120, dated June 23, 2009. Call for Travel Grants 2016 results

The goal of short-term individual travel grants is to support Georgian scientists to participate in international activities in order to strengthen the local scientific potential by exchanging information and experience between Georgian and international scientists. Thus, to help Georgian scientists to integrate into international scientific communities. Overall, 133 proposals were submitted  for the call of 2016 out of which 25 proposals were cancelled  due to their incompliance to the call terms and conditions (proposals were cancelled by SRSNF Director General Decree). Decree of the Director General on cancelled proposals. Submitted proposals were evaluated in line with the criteria under the Georgian Government Resolution #30, dated February 20, 2008. Results of the call for Seasonal Schools 2016

Overall, 53 project proposals were submitted for the call of Seasonal Schools 2016, out of which 10 projects were cancelled due to their incompliance to the call terms and conditions (proposals were cancelled by SRSNF Director General Decree). Call for International Conference 2016 results

Overall, 83 proposals were submitted to Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation for the call of International Conference 2016. Project evaluation committee rejected one proposal due to its incompliance with the call terms and conditions. The project rejected by the evaluation committee:   Project code Organization Research Project Title CG16_i_5_92 Caucasus University ‘Prospects of South Caucasus’ Integration in Europe’   The committee evaluated submitted proposals in line with the criteria under the Georgian Government Resolution #149, dated July 9, 2008, and subsequently, selected 11 proposals for funding.
