ORAU’s Vice President, Mr. Tony Lester’s visit to SRNSF

Tony Lester, the Vice President of Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) visited Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation on October 17, 2016. ORAU provides innovative scientific and technical solutions to science funding agencies, through specialized teams of experts, unique laboratory capabilities and access to a consortium of more than 100 major research institutions. It is noteworthy, that Memorandum of Understanding between ORAU and Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation in research cooperation was signed in February 2016. Successful partnership between SRNSF and ORAU is a guarantee of fair evaluation and selection of high quality research projects submitted for the Collaborative Research Project Call (compatriots call) 2016. The meeting was attended by representatives of Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation, and by approved grantees of Collaborative Research Project Call (compatriots call) 2016. Mr. Tony Lester delivered a presentation on collaboration between SRNSF and ORAU and further cooperation perspectives.

Results of the Collaborative Research Project Call (compatriots call) 2016

Collaborative Research Project Call (compatriots call) 2016 winning projects are nominated. Overall, 38 project proposals were submitted for the call of 2016, out of which 10 proposals were cancelled due to their incompliance with the call terms and conditions. Proposals were cancelled by N144 Decree of SRSNF Director General, dated July 13, 2016. International evaluators nominated 12 proposals for funding. Decree of SRNSF Director General on approval of the winning projects and nominated list of projects by fields of science classification. The winning project authors must act in accordance to the Decree of the SRNSF Director General and submit project documentation within the deadline specifies in the call announcement, otherwise grant contracts will not be concluded!

SRNSF announces call for development of structured PhD programs

The aims of the call for development of doctoral programs: Enhancing academic quality of scientific research and training of new academic staff  in higher educational institutions and scientific research centers, on the bases of the existing scientific potential; Enhancing quality of PhD programs in line with international standards by means of developing new doctoral programs in higher educational institutions; Strengthening interdisciplinary scientific cooperation of higher educational institutions and supporting development of multidisciplinary PhD programs; Promoting inter-institutional and intra-institutional cooperation at the doctoral level of education; Early career support of young scientists and PhD students; Supporting internationalization of doctoral education through strengthening international cooperation of higher educational institutions.   The call of 2016 is open to the following fields of science: Natural Sciences Engineering and Technology Medical and health Sciences Agricultural Sciences Humanities Social Sciences Georgian Studies Project can be interdisciplinary and include maximum three scientific sub-fields (see field of science and technology classification). SRNSF disseminates information about the joint policy conference “Public Engagement for Research, Practice and Policy: Exploring Policy Options for Responsible Research, Sustainability and Innovation” that is to take place on November 16-17 th  2016 in the frame of CASI and PE2020 project consortia. The conference focuses on the intersection of public engagement and sustainable innovation, and will feature a debate on good public engagement and sustainable innovation practices with an ambition to identify common European priorities on how to stimulate societal engagement for sustainable innovation activities in European regions, scientific institutions, SMEs and other societal actors. It will bring together a broad range of experts, stakeholders, policy-makers, entrepreneurs, regional authorities and Commission officials.
