Call for International / Regional Conference grants 2016

Call for International / Regional Conference grant aims to support Georgia in implementing international and regional scientific conferences, congresses, forums, symposiums and seminars, exchanging information and sharing experience, developing scientific research, popularizing Georgian scientists scientific works in international journals and scientific collections, and integration of Georgian scientists in international research area. Conference funded within the competition shall be held from April 10, 2016 until April 10, 2017 . Requested amount should not exceed 40 000 Gel. Applicants must submit documentation for participation in the competition to the following email: cg@rustaveli by 2 March 2016, 16:00. Printed and signed application form for the participation in the call for International / Regional Conference grants must be submitted to the Foundation Office (3 rd floor, 1 Merab Aleksidze Street) no later than 4 March 2016 16:00. Call for Seasonal Schools grant 2016

The goal of the competition is: To organize the seasonal schools / camps for young scientists and students of science and support functioning of the seasonal schools; to support development and popularization of Georgian science; to attract new staff in science, to improve young scientists’ qualifications through trainings, to encourage trainings, transferable skills development and interdisciplinary cooperation in research; to encourage international cooperation and integration of Georgian science in the international scientific space. Within the competition, Seasonal/ Summer Schools should be planned from 31 May 2016 including 31 May 2017. A joint Programme of SRNSF and University of Oxford has been announced

  On 23 October 2015, the “Georgian Studies Programme” was established at Oxford University’s School of Interdisciplinary Area Studies (SIAS). In accordance with the Agreement between the University of Oxford and Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation (SRNSF), signed on 12 November 2015, this Programme will annually award visiting attachments by 2 Georgian scholars to the University of Oxford for periods of up to one year. The Visiting Georgian scholar shall be selected by a panel organized by Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation (SRNSF) with the participation of Oxford University scholars. In the framework of the grant competition, those research projects will be funded that fall within the boundaries of Oxford University’s School of Interdisciplinary Area Studies (, Russian and East European Studies Unit ( in all thematic areas that are relevant to Georgia: Anthropology, sociology, economics, politics, international relations, history, religion, society and culture. To be eligible, the Georgian applicant must be either Ph.D. candidate or within 12 years of having earned a Ph.D. or the equivalent. The program will support competitively selected visiting scholars, with a view to a twelve month research-related visit to University of Oxford commencing in January 2017. Applicants should submit in English the following required documents: Research project (not exceeding 1800 words,  MS WORD document,  Type size 11, Interval - 1.15, Font: Times New Roman); Resume (CV, up to 2 pages, PDF format); Three recent professional referees list that include the following information: Name, surname, affiliation, contact details (Phone,E-mail). 2015 Annual Conference

Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation’s conference "Overview of Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation 2015 Activities and future prospects" was held on December 29, 2015 in hotel "Radisson Blue Iveria". The conference was attended by the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, the heads of its sub-agencies (LEPLs), the President of the National Academy of Science, rectors and pro-rectors of Georgian accredited universities, the heads of the scientific departments and research institutes, national contact persons for international scientific agencies and programs, and target groups concerned with the science development issues.    The Foundation’s 2015 annual report was presented during the conference. The Director General of the Foundation, Marine Chitashvili, introduced to the public 2015 activities and results and 2016 plans and priorities of the Foundation. The second half of the conference was the activities performed in the working groups, where thematically, in accordance with their interests, the target audience was divided into working groups. Results for SRNSF – CNR joint call 2015

The aim of the joint call is to strengthen collaboration between the two countries’ scientific centers and support mobility of researchers. Within the joint call 2015, 17 applications were registered at SRNSF: 16 joint research project proposals and 1 proposal for joint seminar. According to the technical expertise, submitted proposals were in compliance with the terms of the call.
