Meeting with the representatives of the U.S. Embassy in Georgia

Director General of the SRNSF and the representatives of the foundation met with the representatives of U.S embassy in Georgia on 16 th of February. SRNSF, in collaboration with the Embassy, is planning to organize a conference regarding the popularization of science and innovation in Georgia. The conference will be held on 23 rd of April. Invited guests from Georgian public and private sectors and the attendees of the conference will discuss the opportunities and challenges of Georgian research and innovation ecosystem and the strategy of Georgian science development.

Launch Conference of Georgian Studies Programme at the University of Oxford

On 7 th of February, the Launch Conference of Georgian Studies Programme was held at the University of Oxford.  The launch conference included attendees such as the Georgian Ambassador in the United Kingdom - Tamar Beruchashvili, Rector of Ilia State University – Giga Zedania, Director General of Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation – Marine Chitashvili. The Conference on Georgian Studies will be conducted annually. Georgian Studies Programme was founded on 23th of October, 2015, at the School of Interdisciplinary Area Studies of University of Oxford. Georgian Studies programme at University of Oxford is funded by Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation, in the frame of supporting Georgian studies at foreign universities programme. As stated in the agreement between SRNSF and University of Oxford, 3 Georgian scientists will be admitted to the program annually. Funding research centers on Georgian Studies will encourage the development of Georgian Studies and that of traditional Georgian fields, as well as the development of contemporary interdisciplinary research and its popularization in international scientific circles.

Call for “Leonardo Da Vinci” 2017

Program for high school students “Leonardo da Vinci” aims to support ongoing reforms at general educational institutions; to stimulate and improve learning process and raise pupils’ interest towards learning; to raise interest towards innovation and technology; to develop creative thinking and practical skills. Call is open to any person who are VII-XII graders at the general educational institutions (public and private schools). The Call will be conducted in two stages: At the first stage of the Call,   a participant shall submit an application form and a research plan / primary idea (uploaded PDF file) (with scanned signatures) to the following email address:  leo@rustaveli.org.ge . Project evaluation committee will review submitted application form and research plan / primary idea in accordance with the first stage evaluation criteria, and determine short-listed projects that moved to the second stage. Grants for networking in Brokerage Events or in Prepapatory Meetings

  One of the aims of the Eastern Partnership PLUS (EaP PLUS) project is to support the stronger interaction of EaP researchers with EU counterpart & their participation in H2020. The development of Grants for networking financially supports the participation of local researchers from research entities, industry, municipalities and SMEs. This grant scheme financially supports the participation of local researchers in brokerage events and preparatory meetings related to Horizon2020 in the EU Member States or Associated Countries. Such events will allow researchers to network with EU consortia, to build-up partnerships for subsequent joint research activities and to make their institutions and/or their research networks better known. Maximum funding per grant is 1000 EUR. The deadline for the first round of applications is 30 June 2017. (Latest date of the selected event: 29 September 2017) Excellent applicants are eligible to participate in BEs or Preparatory meetings from February, so submitting application forms from February is possible. The selection will be implemented on a ‘first come – first served’ principle. The application must include: Filled out application form in English and the resume (CV with full list of publications, patents, conference presentations, international experience etc). Coordinators’ day in Brussels – organized by the European Commission

On 1 st of March, 2017, the European Commission will organise a “coordinators’ day” for coordinators of successful proposals. The purpose of the event is to explain the details on the preparation and signature of grant agreements. It will take place in the Charlemagne building in Brussels from 9.30 to 17.00. It is mainly meant for coordinators of proposals who were invited to prepare a grant agreement, but other participants are also welcome subject to the availability of seats. The Foundation announces Call for MA Research Scholarships 2017

Call for MA research scholarships will be open in April 2017 (Decree #130/N of the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, October 5, 2016). The goal   of the Call is:   to support quality enhancement in scientific studies, raising academic level and development of research skills - related to the Master's thesis of students enrolled at the accredited Master’s educational program, as well as to support improvement of higher educational institutions research capacity and integration of research in learning processes and support development of thematic and/or interdisciplinary research activities. Call is open to : - Georgian citizens, graduate students (with active student status ) enrolled in higher educational institutions ’ accredited Master’s educational program. In the grant receiving period, an applicant must be the final year student or previous semester student of Master’s educational program. - Applicant must have qualified Master’s theses Supervisor who will support him/her during project implementation period. - P rojects duration: 4-10 months .
