SRNSFG announces 2019 Call for Joint Research Grant Programme of SRNSFG and the European Universities in Georgian Studies
Title of the call: Grant call for the Joint Research Programme in Georgian Studies of Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia and European Universities

Aim of the call
a) Supporting international standard, modern disciplinary and interdisciplinary research and popularization of Georgian Studies at the international level;
b) Promoting Georgian scientists’, including young scientists’ involvement in research activities and enhancing their scientific capabilities, supporting dissemination of research findings among the international scientific network in the Georgian Studies (in the fields of history, culture, alphabet, language and literature, archeology and art, religion, socio-economic, political transformation);
c) Establishing and encouraging collaboration/networking opportunities and consortia building in frames of Georgian Studies and South Caucasus research at the European and international level.
Project proposal type: Individual
Major terms of the call:
1. Georgian citizen Visiting fellows/Young scientist with the letter of support from Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University are eligible to apply for the call and receive funding for scientific fellowship at the European Universities, namely:
a) Visiting Scholar- PhD student, PhD or equal academic degree holder;
b) Young scientist – PhD student, PhD or equal academic degree holder, who has been awarded with the PhD 12 years prior to the call announcement date.
c) For receiving Support Letter, applicants must adress Tbilisi State University Rector with the reference, no later than April 17, 16:00. The reference must be provided at the TSU office (TSU Building 1, Room 114).
2. Visiting scholars will be able to carry out their research and academic activities at the host Institution.
Host Institutions for 2019 grant call are the following:
- University of Bremen (Germany);
- Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena (Germany);
- Eötvös Loránd University (Hungary);
- Leiden University (The Netherlands).
3. Duration of the submitted project: maximum 10 months (minimum 1, maximum 2 semesters)
4. Duration of the project, grant amount and categories of expenditures of the project budget are defined with the following scheme:

Scholarship covers: travel costs (round), visa fees and related costs, including the travel costs in case the consulate resides abroad, costs related to sending and documentation abroad and vice versa, travel and health ensurance costs, local transportation, accommodation, per diem and research related other costs)
6. Administrative costs will cover access to the research and academic resources at the host institution for the grant holder
7. An applicant is entitled to submit only one application in frames of the call.
Call administration calendar:
- Electronic registration – March 20, 2019 -April 22 16:00
- Registration/submitting documents at the SRNSFG – April 23, 2019 16:00
- Eligibility check of submitted proposals – April -May, 2019
- Evaluation of submitted proposals by the commission- May – June, 2019
- Approving grant holders based on the evaluation – June – July, 2019
- Signing grant agreements – July- August, 2019
“Consultation meetings” will be held on April 2 and 10, 2019 at 16:00 at the Conference Hall of the Foundation (Address: #1 M. Aleksidze str. III floor, Tbilisi, 0193).
