[Tbilisi], 26/03/2022

SRNSFG has officially approved and published Gender Equality Plan (GEP). In the context of our participation in the CALIPER project, we have completed the design & development of our inclusive Gender Equality Plan. CALIPER’s aim is to enhance the gender balance in STEM fields and promote a greater engagement of female researchers to R&I, contributing to the 4th ERA priority on Gender Equality “Gender Equality and Gender Mainstreaming in research”. The project also stimulates dialogue and collaboration between academia, public authorities, professionals, and industry players to tackle the persistent gender inequalities across the research- transfer-to-market chain.

After analysis of our external and internal conditions for the GEP development and acceptance, we identified potential gender biases and inequalities along with scenarios to address possible resistances. Through this process, our GEP is now approved and published, and we are working on the implementation of the foreseen activities. Our inclusive GEP is a means to achieve structural change within the institution and enhance the gender balance in the STEM field. It is divided into 7 focus areas: human resources, institutional governance, institutional communication, sexual harassment, intersectionality, research funding and collaborative actions.

As a research funding organisation, we are willing to exchange our knowledge and experience to our local ecosystem, including other research institutions, as well as industry, ministries and government bodies, the public sector and civil society organisations. In this vein, we built our local Research & Innovation (R&I) Hub, to foster mutual learning on gender equality. This Hub will constitute a solid base to engage more interested parties and create a gender friendly R&I community.

A significant milestone towards institutional change has been achieved!

General information

CALIPER project supports 7 Research Performing Organizations(RPO) and 2 Research Funding Organizations (RFO) in nine countries across Europe (Belgium, Croatia, Italy, Georgia, Greece, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Turkey), to design, implement, evaluate, and expand their Gender Equality Plans (GEPs), and engages the local Innovation Hubs to transfer the gained knowledge beyond academia. The project goal is to make research organizations more gender equal by increasing the number of female researchers in STEM, improving their careers prospects, and integrating a gender dimension in research.
