The aim of the call: Activities under STCU Targeted Research and Development Initiatives (TRDI) program intend to enhance Georgia’s international scientific reputation, stimulate local expertise, foster the creation of new industries, encourage international partnership and investment and help strengthen science as a national priority. STCU supports participation of former weapons scientists, engineers and next generation of scientists in developing long term sustainable career.

The Targeted R&D Initiatives Programme implemented jointly by Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation (SRNSF) and Science and Technology Center in Ukraine (STCU) supports advanced research in Georgia’s priority research domains such as: Life science and biotechnology; Information and communication technologies; New materials. The STCU and the SRNSF encourage the greatest possible participation of regional organizations and scientists (i.e., those located outside the city of Tbilisi) in the proposed projects. Interdisciplinary projects as well as those which bring together several scientific institutes will have an advantage in the competition.

The two institutions provide funds to implement projects within TRDI framework under 50 50% cost sharing arrangement.

Target Group: Successful Georgian scientists working in foreign universities, scientific-research institutes, independent research centers; Georgian higher educational organizations, scientific-research centers and scientists working there. In accordance with call’s guideline and STCU policy, no less than 50% of project participants should be scientists with prior experience in the development of weapons of mass destruction.

 

Duration: The projects proposed under the Targeted Initiatives Program must be implemented within a period of between 12, 24 or 36 months.
