The President of the International Committee of Historical Sciences visited Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia

 

 

The Director General of Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia, Professor Dr. Erekle Astakhishvili, welcomed the President of the International Committee of Historical Sciences, Professor Catherine Horel. During the meeting the President was familiarized herself with the foundation's activities and future plans. Aim of the meeting was to support Georgian historians’ internationalization and integration into the world space. Georgian historians are promoted to participate more actively in the events of the International Committee of Historical Sciences.  

At the meeting, the important plans of the International Committee of Historical Sciences were discussed. In 2024, the General Assembly of the International Committee is convened in Tokyo, where a delegate from Georgia will take part.  

Furthermore, in 2026, the World Congress of Historians is planned in Jerusalem, where Georgian historians will present their reports. Georgian side has also expressed a desire to hold the General Assembly in Tbilisi in 2028. 

On top of that, Professor Catherine Horel highlighted the main directions to the Georgian side, which can become the basis of new relations with Georgian historians. 

At the end of the meeting, the President thanked the Director General of the foundation for the warm welcome.
