International Day of Women and Girls in Science

 

For the commemoration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, a ceremony was conducted at the Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia. During this event, accomplished women scientists were honored for their exceptional contributions to the advancement of science.

The event commenced with an opening address by Nodar Papukashvili, the Deputy Minister of Education, Science  and Youth of Georgia. In his address, he offered sincere congratulations to the audience in celebration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. Furthermore, Mr. Papukashvili personally presented the relevant certificates to successful   women scientists for their noteworthy contributions.

Nodar Papukashvili expressed gratitude to the women for their significant contributions to the advancement of science and underscored the critical importance of implementing initiatives to support them.

Teimuraz Dochviri, the General Director of the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia, also delivered a speech before the audience during the award ceremony.

February 11th marks the celebration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, a tradition established since 2015 by the resolution of the UN General Assembly. The primary objective of this day is to foster and encourage women and girls with an interest in science, advocating for their increased participation and influential roles within the realms of science, innovation, and technology.
