The project "Rustvelology in the Digital Age: Georgian-Abkhazian Parallel Corpus of the ‘’The Knight in the Panther's Skin” presentation

 

In the conference hall of the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia, Dr. Manana Tandashvili, a Georgian philologist and professor of philology at Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany, presented the project "Rustvelology in the Digital Age: Georgian-Abkhazian Parallel Corpus of 'The Knight in the Panther's Skin ."

The attendees were greeted by Teimuraz Dochviri, the General director of the Rustaveli Foundation. He highlighted the substantial contributions of both Georgian and international professors from the Caucusology Department at the Goethe University Institute of Empirical Linguistics. Their unwavering dedication and high level of professionalism have played a crucial role in advancing Georgian studies, promoting Georgia, and fostering appreciation for Georgian culture and literature over the decades.

Their contribution to the advancement of Rustvelology, as well as their dedicated research and exploration of the "The Knight in the Panther's Skin," acknowledged the enduring significance of this literary treasure across various scientific disciplines.

Manana Tandashvili, a distinguished member of the Georgian scientific diaspora and the leader of the Caucusology Department at the Goethe University Institute of Empirical Linguistics, as well as the Shota Rustaveli Cabinet at Frankfurt University, was introduced to the audience by Ketevan Gabitashvili, head of the Science Department of the Rustaveli Foundation.

Manana Tandashvili addressed the audience, shedding light on the objectives and scientific novelty  embedded within the "Digital Corpus of Abkhazian Translations of  “The Knight in the Panther's Skin" project. This project,  winner of the  Rustaveli Foundation   2022 Scientific  Grant Call for  Promotion  of the Protection   and Development State Language.  Manana Tandashvili   emphasized the significance of establishing a Georgian-Abkhazian digital corpus and conducting structural processing of the poem's text in both Georgian and Abkhazian languages.
