Jaba Samushia has been appointed as Director General of the Ministry’ of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia LEPL Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia as  result of the competition announced for the vacant position. The priority of the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia will be to finance and promote important scientific projects for the development of the country, to ensure a transparent and fair administration of calls, to meet the existing international standards, to overcome the existing problems and challenges, to integrate Georgian science into the international scientific area, science popularization. At the same time, all directions of science will be given due importance, the Rustaveli Foundation will be in the service of true science, scientific thought- said Jaba Samushia.

Jaba Samushia is a Doctor of Historical Sciences, full-time Professor at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University; Editor-in-Chief of the magazine "Historian"; Member of the Scientific Council of the Journal "Studia Orientalne" of the Institute of Eastern Studies Institutum Orientalium (Torun, Republic of Poland); Holder of the University of Warsaw Higher Award - University Medal. He is the author of more than 200 scientific papers, including 25 books, textbooks and lecture courses. From 2018 to present he has been the Deputy Director General of the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia.
