Launch Conference of Georgian Studies Programme at the University of Oxford

On 7th of February, the Launch Conference of Georgian Studies Programme was held at the University of Oxford. 

The launch conference included attendees such as the Georgian Ambassador in the United Kingdom - Tamar Beruchashvili, Rector of Ilia State University – Giga Zedania, Director General of Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation – Marine Chitashvili. The Conference on Georgian Studies will be conducted annually.

Georgian Studies Programme was founded on 23th of October, 2015, at the School of Interdisciplinary Area Studies of University of Oxford. Georgian Studies programme at University of Oxford is funded by Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation, in the frame of supporting Georgian studies at foreign universities programme. As stated in the agreement between SRNSF and University of Oxford, 3 Georgian scientists will be admitted to the program annually. Funding research centers on Georgian Studies will encourage the development of Georgian Studies and that of traditional Georgian fields, as well as the development of contemporary interdisciplinary research and its popularization in international scientific circles.
