At the 53rd International Physics Olympiad (IPhO 2023) held in Japan this year, the members of the Georgian national team competed with great success. They achieved outstanding results, securing a total of 2 silver and 2 bronze medals, along with one certificate of honor. Irakli Ugulava and Dachi Chotashvili, students of Komarov Tbilisi  Public School of Physics-Mathematics N199, earned the silver medals, while Luka Tvalavadze  and Andria Manjavidze, also from  Komarov Tbilisi  Public School of Physics-Mathematics N199 were awarded the bronze medals. Bidzina Gagnidze, another student from the same school, received an honorable certificate.

The selection and participation of Georgia's national teams in international educational Olympiads are organized through the joint efforts of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and by the administration of the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia.

The leader of the team was Ramaz Khomeriki, co-leader - Grigol Feradze, and Giorgi Bakhtadze is serving as the assistant. This year, the national team of Georgia was made up of students who passed the third round of the National Olympiad. They passed two additional qualifying rounds, and the composition of the national team and reserve team was determined based on the sum of points accumulated in both rounds.

International Academic Olympiads are renowned for their scale and rich history. Their primary objective is to elevate and refine students' knowledge and skills across diverse academic disciplines, fostering a culture of excellence in learning.
