Rustaveli National Science Foundation hosted the German Research Foundation

 

On 21st November , a workshop was held at Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia together with the German Research Foundation (DFG). The purpose of the workshop was to review funding opportunities for the promotion of Georgian-German research cooperation.

At the workshop, the representatives of the German Research Foundation Jörg Schneider and Jörn Ashterberg emphasized the possibility of deepening the cooperation between Georgia and the Federal Republic of Germany in the scientific field, the purpose of which is to promote cooperation between German and Georgian scientists and knowledge-oriented research between scientific institutions. The representatives introduced the mission and activities of DFG to the invited guests. On behalf of the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia, the workshop was chaired by Rusudan Jobava, the head of the International Relations and Fundraising Office. The workshop was preceded by a meeting with the General Director of the Foundation. At the meeting, the colleagues discussed future cooperation with DFG, which includes the announcement of a bilateral call, where Georgian scientists will have the opportunity to work together with German colleagues on the projects.

The DFG is a scientific research funding organization in Germany, which finances research in all fields of science, especially promoting the development of international cooperation. One of the DFG's priorities is the support of young scientists, the organization offers young researchers programmes that ensure their qualifications at all academic levels. On July 12th of 2023, Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia and the German Research Foundation (DFG) signed a Memorandum of Understanding.
