Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia and the EU Twinning project working together on the development of a new Applied Research grant call

The Twinning project on bridging the gap between science and business in collaboration with Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation organised a virtual workshop „New Science, Technology and Innovation Funding Instruments: Technology Transfer and Commercialization Needs” on 22nd June 2022.

The representatives of various research institutions, universities, associations, and companies representing different domains attended the workshop. The workshop was addressing the challenges and opportunities of an applied research grant call and mainly focused on technology transfer and commercialization needs.

The workshop aimed to identify the needs and expectations of the relevant stakeholders in science and higher education as well as in the enterprise sector, and, for the business sector to understand the demand, incentives, and restricting elements for cooperation. This is strategically important for the enhancement of grant calls and foundation development, in general. The event was moderated by Twinning experts from DLR Project Management Agency, Germany and the Austrian Research Promotion Institution.

The international Twinning project consortium of Environment Agency Austria in partnership with Joanneum Research (Austria), Austrian Science Fund, Austrian Research Promotion Agency, DLR Project Management Agency (Germany) and Daugavpils University (Latvia) enhances the capacity of the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia by revising and improving grant programs, considering regional and international contexts.
