The European Capital of Innovation Award

In March 2017 European Commission announces the prize for the European Capital of Innovation awarding the cities with most innovative citizen-driven initiatives for tackling the social challenges. There are 3 prize categories;

  • The European Capital of Innovation 2017: €1 000 000
  • First runner-up: €100 000
  • Second runner-up: €100 000

Eligibility Requirements

The following cities can take part in the contest:

  • Cities with more then 100 000 populations
  • Cities from EU Member States and countries associated to Horizon 2020.
