Opening of EURAXESS representation - „ EURAXESS GEORGIA”

Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia Mikheil Batiashvili together with Director General of Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia Zviad Gabisonia and adviser on Education of Prime Minister Mikheil Chkhenkeli established EURAXESS representation at the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation meeting on September 27. At the meeting with the Fund's staff, Minister Batiashvili spoke about the importance of Georgia's accession to the EURAXESS, about the wide range of available opportunities and the benefits Georgian scientists will get out of it. The Minister thanked the Director General of the fund Zviad Gabisonia and employees for the job they made.

Dr. Gabisonia mentioned that from January 2020 on EURAXESS soft-platform EURAXESS-Georgia portal would be launched. As a result, Georgian scientists will be able to participate actively into the huge projects and large-scale international competitions in every fields of science; will be able to access funds and multimillion research projects of more than 40 Euraxess member countries including the Horizon 2020 program and its subprograms.

Now, Georgia has officially become a member of EURAXESS, a unique pan-European research and innovation initiative of the European Union, member states and associated countries.

 

In Brussels the agreement was signed by minister Batiashvili, the Director of the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation Zviad Gabisonia and the Deputy Director General of the European Commission Research and Innovation Patrick Child.

 

EURAXESS membership gives direct access to Georgian scientists to:

* More 500 international and national scientific grants worldwide funds

* More than 15,000 world-leading universities, research institutes and research interested businesses

* More than 40 countries financial resources, exceeded several billion euros

 

EURAXESS membership will enable Georgia's close integration into the EU's research and development space, scientists’ career development, and enlargement of international cooperation between universities and research institutes.
