Policy Support Facility Experts’ second visit in Georgia was completed
Second visit of Policy Support Facility Experts in Georgia was completed. International experts were working in Georgia for 5 days with the purpose of acquiring, reviewing and making recommendations for the current issues of the Georgian Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) System,
Panel of Experts held meetings with research institutions, representatives of Public and Private universities, private sector and international and national organizations, independent researchers, young scientists, SRNSFG grant holders and representatives of other Georgian scientific society. The meetings were organized by the SRNSFG.
In order to get familiar with the situation in the field of research and innovation, the Panel of Experts visited several research centers and also held a working meeting with the Deputy Minister of Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Mr. Aleksandre Tevzadze, Deputy minister of Minister Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Ms. Ekaterine Mikabadze, Chairman of Georgian Innovation and Technology Development Agency, Mr. Giorgi Zviadadze, Chairman of the Education and Science and Culture Committee of the Parliament of Georgia, Ms. Mariam Jashi.
During the working meetings discussion was on the following issues:
- Support in identification of promising research fields;
- Measures for narrowing the gap between research and industry/business;
- Proposal for the performance-based funding of research entities.
The international experts presented the analyzed findings of the gathered information during their first country visit (presentation format) and asked the audience to express their opinions, to engage in discussions and to share additional comments for getting more comprehensive and relevant information about Georgia's Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) System.
The final report / recommendation document developed by the Policy Support Facility international experts is planned to be disseminated in June, 2018.
