Research on Mineralogical Characteristics of Georgian-Byzantine Cleric Enamel by Innovative Methods

Presentation of scientific results and video material were held at Georgian Technical University.

Medieval centuries’ Georgian-Byzantine cleric enamel technology, which has been lost since the 15th century, is of great importance for cultural life of our country. The project HDPHDF-18-449 - "Research on Mineralogical Characteristics of Georgian-Byzantine Cleric Enamel by Innovative Methods" funded by the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation, coordinator – Ermine Maghradze, on the basis of ancient sources and artefacts, includes the research of mentioned technology based on modern research tools.

In research process, every artefact or written document that has reached our time from the distant past, acquires great importance itself.

One such document comes from Vakhtang VI's treatise "The Book of Creating Oils and Chemistry" which contains important information on the preservation of color decorative glass technology.

The recipes for making "colored cups" described in this treatise have been thoroughly studied and therefore decrypted.

The presentation was attended by the professor- teachers.
