Bio protection and biosecurity symposium in the framework of Georgian-German joint project

On November 21, Bio protection and Biosecurity Symposium was held at the conference hall of National Center for Disease Control and Public Health. Symposium was organized by the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia, L. Sakvarelidze National Centre for Disease Control and Public Health, The Bundeswehr Institute of Microbiology (IMB) and German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ).

Georgian-German project aims to broaden relations between Germany and Georgia, establish regional network of biological safety and diagnose dangerous infectious diseases through sharing of knowledge and experience by German scientists.

The project has been implemented since 2013, by National Center for Disease Control and Public Health and The Bundeswehr Institute of Microbiology (IMB)

The event was attended by officials from the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia and National Center for Disease Control and Public Health; German Ambassador to Georgia; representatives and experts from: German Bundeswehr Institute of Microbiology, German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), different organizations located in Georgia, Ukraine, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Emergency Management Agency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Nino Gachechiladze, Deputy Director General of Shota Rustaveli Foundation was invited to the symposium. Mrs. Nino presented Foundation’s programmes, events and funding schemes to the audience, as well as Foundation’s achievements regarding the integration to European scientific area and fundraising.
