Director General of Rustaveli Foundation met with representatives of Institutes of Georgian Studies

On November 14, Prof. Zviad Gabisonia, Director General of the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation at the National Centre of Manuscripts of Georgia, met with the scientific staff from 13 research institutes of Georgian studies; Zaza Abashidze, Director of the Korneli Kekelidze National Centre of Manuscripts of Georgia addressed the audience.

Director-General of the Foundation gave a presentation - "New Phase of Integration of Georgian Science into the European Space - New Opportunities for Scientists", Prof. Zviad Gabisonia spoke about future projects and programmes of Georgian Studies of Rustaveli Science Foundation. Georgian Studies are one of the state priorities for the Foundation. Programme funding of Georgian studies has increased. The Foundation announced targeted calls including: call for Promotion of Scientific Research Projects and International Scientific Events in Occupied Territories of Georgia, grant Call for Supporting Scientific Research Projects and International Scientific Events in the Cross-Border Regions of Georgia, furthermore, from January Georgian studies Research programme will be announced. Prof. Zviad Gabisonia emphasized the necessity of supporting Georgian Studies Centers abroad, the importance of opening a Cabinet of Rustaveli Foundation at various universities around the world, also to strengthen field of Georgian Studies, improve coordination between research institutions of this field, maintain the independence of institutions, and establish Joint Georgian Studies Center.

The Director General of the Rustaveli Foundation noted that joining EURAXESS is a new wide range of opportunities and challenges for Georgian scientists to develop and meet high European standards.

At the end, Prof. Zviad Gabisonia answered the questions of famous scientists at the meeting.
