Unexplored Archive Materials and the Traditional Culture of the East Georgia Highland (Ethnological Studies)

On May 2, 2018 at Iv. Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University Iv. Javakhishvili Institute of History and Ethnology was held the presentation of the outcomes of the project: Unexplored Archive Materials and the Traditional Culture of the East Georgia Highland (Ethnological Studies). Principal Investigator – Doctor of History Nino Ghambashidze. The speakers at the presentation were: Nino Ghambashidze and Nikoloz Gurgenidze, member of the project, the responsible person for the Iv. Javakhishvili Institute of History and Ethnology archive. The project aimed to work out graphic archive materials about the East Georgia highland (Gudamakari, Khevi, Tusheti) preserved at the archive of the Institute.

275 graphical sketches were worked out by 19 parameters, digitalized and entire data base was formed. On the basis of these worked out material a monograph: “The Traditional Culture of the East Georgia Highland (Main Shrines of Gudamakari, Khevi, Tusheti)” was written.

The results of the project were presented at the international conferences (London, Warsaw and Tbilisi). 1 article was published in peer reviewed journal, second in an e-book and the third one in the proceedings of the conference. 6 articles were published in the Georgian scientific journal.

The editor of the monograph, Professor, Doctor of History, Nino Maisuradze evaluated the presented work. The value of the investigation was acknowledged among the professionals and the audience.
