Remote lecture "Creation and Use of Vaccines"

On May 11, within the framework of Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia project "Online Public Lectures", Ivane Beritashvili Scholarship holder of Medical and Health Sciences, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Tamar Tsertsvadze, professor at the Department of Immunology and Microbiology of the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, gave an online lecture on "Creation and Use of Vaccines" for the Foundation's grantees.

Nunu Mitskevich, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia opened and summed up the online event, she spoke about the importance of supporting young scientists, their involvement in scientific projects, and the urgency of creating a vaccine against COVID 19.

Tamar Tsertsvadze spoke about the first vaccination and related history, the importance of immunization and ways to implement it, forms, vaccines, its groups, components of modern vaccines, vaccine types, vaccine-controlled diseases and other issues. The speaker focused on the new Coronavirus and its development stages, on the stages of creating a vaccine against it and on its capabilities. Director General of the Rustaveli Science Foundation,  Zviad Gabisonia, Deputies Director General,  Jaba Samushia and Nino Gachechiladze, spoke about the current project and took part in the discussion. In the end, Tamar Tsertsvadze answered questions of webinar participants.
