Ceremonial Event Dedicated to the International Day of Science

 

On November 10, the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia and the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia organized an event dedicated to the International Day of Science - a ceremonial award ceremony honoring distinguished and successful young scientists.

As part of the event, the 20th anniversary of the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia was celebrated.

The audience was congratulated on the International Day of Science, and attention was drawn to the significance of the Foundation’s establishment by the Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia - Givi Mikanadze, the Chair of the Education, Science and Youth Affairs Parliamentary  Committee   - Mariam Lashkhi, the General Director of the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia - Teimuraz Dochviri, the Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia - Zviad Gabisonia, and the President of the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia - Roin Metreveli.

Givi Mikanadze, in his speech, congratulated the audience on the International Day of Science and spoke about the important role each of them plays in the development of science.

The Director General of the Rustaveli Foundation, Teimuraz Dochviri, congratulated scientists of all generations and ages, as well as all scientists of Georgia, on this remarkable occasion - the International Day of Science for Peace and Development, which was established by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and has been celebrated annually since 2001.  The Director General of the Foundation delivered a presentation titled “The Twenty-Year Journey of the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia,” outlining the foundation’s goals, main directions, state grant calls, bilateral and multilateral international programs and projects, achieved results, and future organizational priorities.

As part of the event, an award ceremony was held for 10 distinguished laureate scientists receiving the Rustaveli Foundation Prize “For Contribution to Science and Outstanding Achievements.”   Certificates and awards were presented to the young scientists who won in seven scientific fields in the 2025 Rustaveli Foundation Prize call “For Outstanding Achievements in Science,” as well as to the woman scientist who won in the 2025 Rustaveli Foundation Prize Competition “Women in Science - For Outstanding Achievements in Mathematics.”

The well-known scientists and successful young researchers were awarded by the Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, Givi Mikanadze, and the General Director of the Foundation, Teimuraz Dochviri.
