Ethics - First National Consortium All Partner Meeting

 

On March 1, 2023, the first national meeting of the consortium partners of the Erasmus+ winning project - "Responsible Conduct of Research - Research Integrity and Ethics in Georgian Universities" (ETHICS) was held. Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia participates in the consortium as a partner organization, together with the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and the National Center for Education Quality, as a state agency. The aim of the national structural reform project ETHICS is to launch a systemic improvement intervention to improve the quality of University and Research-Performing Organizations (RPOs) research through launching measures to adhere to the foundations of high-quality research and excellence.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the work packages provided by the ETHICS project. The partners participating in the event discussed the importance of the project, the objectives of the ETHICS and the general importance of research ethics at the national level.

During the national meeting following issues were discussed: establishing of European standards for responsible conduct of research, the development of a plan supporting research integrity at the institutional level, the strengthening of trust in science society, and the need of implementing  awareness-raising activities of the scientific community.

Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia within the framework of ETHICS will be involved in the activities, workshops, and meetings of the project, thus the foundation will ensure the improvement of the research disciplinary environment in universities, which will have a positive impact on the current situation in the country.

Representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, National Center for Education Quality, Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia, and 10 higher educational institutions of Georgia participated in the meeting.
