Lecture "May 26 - Historical Date - Georgia's Independence Day"

On May 26, Georgia's Independence Day, Dimitri Silakadze, a historian and professor at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, delivered a remote lecture "May 26 - Historical Date - Georgia's Independence Day" for grantees of Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia,  professors  and students.

Zviad Gabisonia, Director General of Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia, congratulated the participants of the event on May 26 - the biggest national holiday, spoke about the series of online lectures held by the Rustaveli Foundation in May.

Dimitri Silakadze's lecture was about the establishment of the First Republic, the period before the declaration of independence, the struggle of generations to save the country's identity, the idea of ​​autonomy, the readiness of the Georgian political and public elite to declare the country's independence, Germany's role in these processes, the country's domestic and foreign policy. The historian spoke about the historical significance of this day and its main achievement, heritage.
