The Foundation announces 2026 Joint Research Internship Grant call of the Foundation and French Institute of Georgia

Call Abbreviation: GFI

Goals of the Call:

  1. a) To deepen scientific cooperation between Georgia and France and to promote joint engagement in international scientific research projects;
  2. b) To encourage the initiation of scientific cooperation between French and Georgian scientists and to support the career development of young Georgian researchers.

 

Project proposal type: Individual

 

Major terms and conditions of the Call:

 

 

  • Applicants must be Georgian citizens holding a doctoral degree or an equivalent academic degree, awarded no more than 12 years before the announcement date of the call, and must have the support of a French university and/or research institution (official letter of support);
  • To obtain an official letter of support, the applicant must contact the relevant French university and/or research institution with a formal application;
  • Applicants must have proficiency in English or French;
  • The duration of the research internship at French universities/research institutions is 1 month;

Total funding from the Foundation for two researchers amounts to €2,850, which includes €1,800 for one researcher (up to €750 for round-trip international travel and €1,050 as a living stipend), and €1,050 for the second researcher (living stipend only).

 

Total funding from the French Institute for two researchers:

  • For those who hold a doctoral degree awarded less than 5 years ago, the total amounts to €2,950, which comprises €1,850 for one researcher (including €750 for international travel) and €1,100 for the second researcher.

Of the allocated amount, €929 will directly cover all costs related to accommodation, insurance, train travel if necessary, and administrative expenses, managed by the agency Campus France. The remaining €171 will be transferred to the researcher as a supplementary housing stipend.

  • For those who hold a doctoral degree awarded more than 5 years ago, the total amounts to €3,250, which comprises €2,000 for one researcher (including €750 for international travel) and €1,250 for the second researcher.

Of the allocated amount, €943.70 will directly cover all costs related to accommodation, insurance, train travel if necessary, and administrative expenses, organized by the agency Campus France. The remaining €306.30 will be transferred to the researcher as a supplementary housing stipend.

 

Each applicant may submit only one application.

 

Call Administration Timeline:

  • April 23 – May 25 (16:00) - Registration in the Grants Management Unified System (GMUS).
  • online group consultations
  • May 28, 18:00 – Deadline for submitting the application document to the SRNSFG chancellery
  • June 2026 – Eligibility review of submitted proposals
  • June-September, 2026 - Evaluation of compliant projects and publication of results
