The SRNSFG announces 2025 Call for Fundamental Research State Grants

Aim of the call:
The Fundamental Research State Grants Call aims to promote the advancement of knowledge across various scientific fields, prioritizing both theoretical and experimental exploration of new theories, models, ideas, and concepts. The primary objective is to contribute to the country’s long-term development in areas such as socio-political, economic, cultural, public, and technological sectors. This call supports the creation of a competitive research environment, encourages high-quality research that meets international standards and fosters international collaboration. It also aims to engage and develop scientific potential of young researchers.

Call Conditions:
The project budget and duration are determined based on the scheme below:
The expenditure of the requested sum from the Foundation must meet the following requirements:
- Annual grant funding allocated to key personnel must not exceed 40,000 GEL.
- If the project includes the participation of young scientists, this limit increases to 45,000 GEL per year; if two or more young scientists are involved, the maximum funding for key personnel rises to 50,000 GEL per year.
- Each young scientist involved in the project must receive a minimum of 9,000 GEL annually.
- The total annual salary for supporting personnel must not exceed 5,000 GEL.
- Overhead (indirect) costs necessary for implementing the project should not exceed 5% of the total funding requested from SRNSFG.
Call administration calendar:
April 3 – April 30, 2025, 16:00 – Registration in the Grants Management Unified System (GMUS).
Online group consultations – Dates and meeting link to be announced later on the Foundation’s website.
May 20, 2025, 18:00 – Deadline for submitting application documents to the SRNSFG office.
May 2025 – Eligibility check for the submitted projects.
June 2025 – Publish interim results of the call.
June - December 2025 – Evaluation of project proposals by independent reviewers/group of reviewers.
January - February 2026 – Final rankings of projects by scientific field and identification of those selected for funding based on expert assessments.
January - February 2026 – Approval of the final list of funded projects by the Director General of the Foundation and publication of official results.
February - March 2026 – Signing of the grant agreements.
