Cooperation Agreement between the SRNSFG and National Research Council of Italy (CNR) was signed

The renewed agreement on Scientific cooperation between Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia and National Research Council of Italy (CNR) was signed today, on July 16, 2018 at 19:00 at the Presidential Palace of Georgia.

Cooperation between SRNSFG and CNR counts the history of several years and includes the grant call for Joint research programme in every two years. According to the renewed cooperation agreement, more funding will be available for increased number of the Joint projects annually.

 The purpose of the Agreement is to further strengthen cooperation in research and innovation between the two countries. The Parties will, on a basis of equality and mutual benefit, promote and support collaboration between scientists and research institutions, in areas of common interest. The Parties will, on a basis of equality and mutual benefit, promote and support cooperation between their respective qualified scientists in all research areas but mainly on Cultural heritage and new technologies applied to Cultural Heritage.

In accordance with the cooperation agreement, joint research and mobility projects will be funded and both parties will cover the expenses for its scientific team. Up to 10 joint projects will be selected annually in frames of the cooperation and 2 years are envisaged as the maximum duration of submitted projects.

The meeting was attended by the President of the Italian Republic- Sergio Mattarella, President of the National Research Council of Italian Republic, Prof. Massimo Inguscio, The ambassador of the Italian Republic to Georgia, H.E. Antonio Enrico Bartoli, the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport – Mikheil Batiashvili, the Director General of the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia – Ms. Manana Mikaberidze and other official guests.
