On November 13, 2020 was held a regional meeting on elimination of Covid Infection. Meeting was organized by the Kazakhstan Science Foundation and supported by the International Science and Technology Center (ISTC), with the participation of representatives of science foundations and research centers from Central Asia and the Caucasus region.

The major purpose of the meeting was to establish a Regional Council of Scientists, which envisages the unification of the Caucasus and Central Asia around the large-scale problem caused by the coronavirus. The Council will ensure the sharing of experience by member states' scientific circles and organizing joint programs, conferences and workshops.

The purpose of this council is to assist the governments of the regions in developing and coordinating proposals for predicting development of pandemic, (including other infectious diseases), monitoring and response.

On behalf of the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia, the meeting was attended by Dr. Rusudan Jobava, Head of the Office of International Relations and Fundraising, who briefed the audience regarding the current situation on Covid-19 pandemic in Georgia.
