ERC Vice President, Mart Saarma delivered a Public Lecture

On February 26, at 15:00, Vice President of the European Research Council (ERC), Professor Mart Saarma delivered a public lecture on ‘ERC Funding Opportunities: Supporting Excellent Researchers All over Europe’. The event was organized by Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation (SRNSF).

Lecture was attended by the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Ms. Tamar Sanikidze, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Mr. Giorgi Sharvashidze, Director General of Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation Dr. Marine Chitashvili and around 90 researchers.

Prof. Mart Saarma gave a general overview on ERC aims and strategy, structure and programs, funding schemes and outstanding features making the European Research Council distinguished among Horizon 2020 programs. ERC’s focus on excellent projects and support to young researchers was highlighted. Lecture included various practical topics, such as: How to prepare and submit an ERC research proposal, overview of grant schemes, evaluation panel structure, statistical data and ERC achievements. Presentation was followed by an interactive discussion. Prof. Saarma encouraged researchers of Georgia to participate in ERC grant schemes wishing them the best of luck in their endeavors.
