Professor Roger Cashmore’s meetings with Georgian scientists

On February 14, the co-chair of the International Policy Board of the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia, professor of the Oxford University, former chairman of the European Nuclear Research Organization (CERN) Roger Cashmore held meetings with representatives of the Georgian scientific community.

The Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia organized Prof.  Cashmore’s meetings with the representatives of Technology Institute of Georgia (TIG) and High Energy Institute of Tbilisi State University, Georgian scientists involved in ATLAS and CMS experiments (CERN).

Professor Cashmore got acquainted with Georgian scientific activities and achievements in the experiments, discussed the importance of the Georgia’s participation in CERN experiments for the country and society in general.

During the meetings, importance of such large-scale international cooperation projects and its benefits for the society was highlighted. Besides, the challenges, Georgian academic and research institutions in Physics are facing was also analyzed.
