The Director General of the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia met with CERN scientists
Director General of the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia, Teimuraz Dochviri, conducted a working meeting with scientists from the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) and representatives of the Georgian Technical University.
The meeting was attended by:
- Tiziano Camporesi - leader of the CMS experiment at CERN and Professor at Boston University
- Tamar Lominadze- Vice-Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Professor
- Zviad Tsamalaidze - Director of the Institute of Quantum Physics and Engineering Technologies at the Georgian Technical University and leader of the university’s scientific group at CERN and KEK, Professor
- Irakli Lomidze - member of the Georgian group of the CMS collaboration and team leader of ShiP experiment
Issues related to the involvement of the Georgian Technical University's team of scientists in the SHiP experiment and the development of scientific activities in this field were discussed during the meeting. SHiP is a next-generation CERN experiment, which aims to study physical phenomena that lie beyond the Standard Model of particle physics, it is scheduled to begin in 2032. The parties also discussed the activities of the Georgian group of scientists within the CMS Collaboration, where they are actively involved in the development of the experiment and the conduct of scientific research.
The parties discussed areas to deepen cooperation and create new opportunities for young scientists.
