Georgian Scientists meeting with the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia

On March 16, the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Dr. Mikheil Chkhenkeli meth the SRNSFG grant holders of 2017 (scientists, PhD students, Post Docs, MA students) at the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia.

Major goal of the meeting was to disseminate information regarding the State-funded projects in the Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) system and science popularization. Specific goal of the event was meeting with the SRNSFG grant holders of 2017, presentation of the major trends, funded fields and institutions, challenges and achievements of the Georgian scientific society and discussion on the ongoing important issues.

The event was attended by the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Alexander Tevzadze; the chair of the Education, Science and Culture Committee, Ms. Mariam Jashi and representatives of the Diplomatic missions to Georgia.

Meeting between the Scientific Society and Georgian Government will promote publicity of the progress on the STI system and its role for the socio-economic development of the State. It will initiate interest from the non-governmental sector and promote investments in the field.

The event was opened by the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Dr. Mikheil Chkhenkeli, who reviewed the renewed strategy and plans of MoES. The Director General of SRNSFG, Ms. Manana Mikaberidze held the presentation at the meeting, she reviewed 2017 calls and talked regarding the future plans of SRNSFG. There was the interactive dialogue after the presentations, headed by the Deputy Minister, Dr. Alexandre Tevzadze. The audience expressed their opinion regarding various important issues.

There was the mini exhibition of the academic and scientific works published by the successful projects funded by SRSNFG in parallel to the meeting at the hall.
