On January 24-28, 2018 the Director General of Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia, Manana Mikaberidze and the Deputy Director General Nino Gachechiladze, officially visited Ankara on 25 January and Istanbul on 26-27 January on the basis of the invitation of President of Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) .

On 25 January, 2018 a memorandum of cooperation between the SRNSFG and TUBITAK was signed, according to which Turkish and Georgian sides express their readiness to cooperate with:

• Mobility of academic and scientific personnel;
• Information exchange in science, innovations and technologies;
• Development of bilateral projects;
• Organizing scientific research technological parks and incubators;
• Sharing Turkey’s experience in Research an Innovation Programme within the framework of H2020.
• Introduction of the work of the Horizon2020 National Contact Persons and Program Committee members;
• Visit TUBITAK Research Centers (BILGEM, MARMARA Techno Park, Pharma Research), Institute of Metrology, Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology and Materials for the purpose of introducing joint research infrastructure and scientific topics proposed to the Georgian side.
