The search for the signals of the new physics at ATLAS experiment
The project N 13/03 “ The search for the signals of the new physics at ATLAS experiment” have won in the competition for joint research projects of State Science Grants for Joint Research Projects with Georgian Scientists working abroad 2011, under leadership of CERN associative member and the leader of Tile Calorimeter maintenance group Dr. Irakli Minashvili.
Results of the project and effect: 1) The Data Control System (DCS) of Tile Hadronic Calorimeter of ATLAS experiment provides permanent control and monitoring more than 20000 important parameters of the calorimeter.
2) The study of the dependence of the response of TileCal on the pseudorapidity (η) impact points and light yields of the 180 GeV muons have been performed. It have been obtained, that the Landau convoluted with Gaussian function better describes the Tile calorimeter response to muons than the Moyal function.
3) The search for the t → qZ rare decay mode was performed by studying top-quark pair (tt‾ ) production. The tt‾ → bWqZ events were studied in dilepton channel. No evidence for a signal is found and at the 95% confidence level the Branching ratios is set: by using cut- based analysis method and by using probabilistic analysis method .
4) After theoretical investigation of the rare decays of the leptons and heavy quarks it have been obtained, that
the branching ratios induced by mini black holes are comparable to the modern experimental restrictions (limitations).
5) During the project implementation period three thesis have been performed by young project participants (one Master’s thesis and two Bachelor’s thesis) and two participants of the project became PhD students.
6) Young participant of the project Archil Durglishvili successfully performed qualification task and became the
the plenipotentiary member of the ATLAS collaboration.
7) The results obtained within the project have been presented at 44 International Scientific Conferences and published in the Conferences Proceedings. 43 Scientific paper have been published in the peer-reviewed international journals.
