The International Summer School in Kartvelian (Georgian) Studies SS/12/1-20/14

The project N SS/12/1-20/14, under the leadership of the professor of Tbilisi State University Elguja Khintibidze, became the winner of the program the International Summer School of 2014.

 The number of the foreign students attending the classes was limited to 10-12 based on the specificity of the program as well as the teaching methods. The program lasted for 6 weeks (5 weeks were dedicated to the intense teaching of Georgian language as well as to classes in different areas of Georgian studies); the participants were divided into several groups for taking the intense course in Georgian language according to their level of Georgian proficiency. The course was lead by a senior teacher along with other assistants. The classes in Georgian language took place on a daily bases lasting 4 academic hours. With the help of an individual teacher each student took practical exercises that lasted 1 academic hour. Within the framework of the Summer School the foreign students were able to get to know with old and modern cultural life. Expeditions to various regions of Georgia took place at the end of every week. A special presentation material was prepared by the organizing group. Several workshops were held post the expeditions allowing the students of the Summer School to sum up the results of the expeditions. The booklet of the International Summer School in Kartvelian Studies was released.
