International Organization of Vine and Wine (OIV)

Proposal N 03/20 titled International Organization of Vine and Wine (OIV) under the direction of Ia Pipia, Assistant Professor of Agricultural University of Georgia, Institute of Molecular Genetics, won the Short-Term Individual Travel Grants Competition, 2015. The 38th OIV World Vine and Wine Congress took place in Mainz (Germany) from 5th to 10th July 2015 which was hosted by the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture. Four main topics were discussed during this congress: viticulture, oenology, economy and law, safety and health. The presented grant application was funded as a oral presentation in the section of viticulture at 7th july of 2015. The presentation included the results of the molecular genetic analyses of Georgian and South Caucasian wild grape samples. The research caused a big interest of the audience. Interesting discussion was held, which continued after finishing of the section session. The interest of the foreign scientist and the new scientific contacts established during the congress underlines the importance of participation for expansion and future development of the research.

Ia Pipia, owner of the travel grant, held public informational presentation at the Agricultural University of Georgia on September 10, 2015. The presentation was about participation in the congress and its results. The meeting was attended by representatives of Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation, professors and interested people.
